Day 129: Sprung
Went to paint.
Came back."
Yeah, who ever says that an artist life is
not gonna be mundane?
It is like any other jobs in the world.
Check in, check out.
The only difference is that we don't know
when's our next pay cheque.
Life is a struggle for an artist.
Especially when you are not THAT famous.
I hate it whenever I get friends or relatives
who ask me to paint for them for free, or
give them a painting.
GOD!
Hey-Why don't you @#$% give me one
of those luxurious cars that you're manufacturing?
Hey-Why don't you #$@^%! give me one of those
houses that you are developing?
Or even better, just give me some !@$%^& cash
from the bank that you're running?
Artist IS a fXXking job!
Not a bloody hippie lifestyle!!
(Well-sometimes it can be.)
But-c'mon! Everyone always assumed that
just because he/she is an artist, he/she are commonly
assumed to be 'artistically talented' (some of us truly are),
therefore it'll be so easy for them to paint something
for free!
Like most crafts, it sucks up our mental
and physical. Finishing a damn painting
is so damn painful and time consuming.
Painting is never easy even though
we are good with the brushes and paint.
So does it mean since you are good with your
accounting job, you can give me some free
accounting services?
The problem here lies with the general population
of my country whom are not educated the
awareness and respect for art.
But, I mean to be reasonable, I can't really blame them.
What do I expect from a country where the majority
buys pirated dvds that almost seem too easy and legal.
Will the art industry in my country ever grow?
Will some of my ignorant friends and relatives
ever stop asking me for free paintings?
I can only cross my fingers and hope
that I'll be selling a painting soon where I
can continue to live longer to find out.

She asked me the meaning of 'sprung'. I hope she doesn't mean that we are. :p

Man hospitalized after Droid 2 screen explodes in his ear
Imagine, if you will, walking down the road talking on your Droid 2 when all of a sudden you hear a loud pop in your ear and the next thing you know your ear is bleeding. Not a nice thought by any means but that's exactly what happened to Aron Embry from North Texas. As noted in the news report Aaron, was taken to the hospital for assessment where doctors determined that no hearing loss had taken place but four stiches were indeed needed due to the lacerations from the glass. Motorola has since issued a statement regarding the incident:
"Motorola's priority is, and always has been the safety of our customers, and all Motorola products are designed, manufactured and tested to meet or exceed international and local standards for consumer safety. We will reach out to the consumer and investigate this thoroughly."
Now, despite Aaron having had this happen while using a Droid 2 we'd be remiss if we didn't mention that instances like this have actually become more occasional; it's not just with the Droid 2. Please, no comments about explosive Android sales folks, that's just bad. You may like to know though, the phone actually still works. You can check out the full video of the news report at the source link. Thanks SooperDooper! [WFAA]

These few passages from the Hipster Bible need to be expanded into an entire volume! It would be easily the best Bible translation since the LOLcats Bible and The Brick Testament.

Tooth decay to be a thing of the past? Enzyme responsible for dental plaque ...
Scientists have deciphered the structure and functional mechanism of the glucansucrase enzyme that is responsible for dental plaque sticking to teeth. This knowledge will stimulate the identification of substances that inhibit the enzyme. Just add that substance to toothpaste, or even sweets, and caries could be a thing of the past.
Day 126: Ahem
Pretty good. Think we got our villain.
Hung out at the studio for awhile.
Watch a football match with the boys.
Looked at my unfinished paintings for
hours. Then slept a little at the couch.
Suddenly feels stressed about financial.
Stare up the ceiling. One member pulling
out from the studio. That’s more forking
out money from my pocket.
Leaving the country soon. But still I’ve
got to pay the rent. It’s part of the deal
with the rest of my artist friends.
Looking at my savings and uncollected
payment from clients. Should be enough.
Tell myself that this is part of the artist life.
Facing the financial and balancing.
Read Craig Thompson travel comics.
Very fortunate for him to travel the world
with his art career. He deserves it. His art
is amazing.
Am I not working hard enough?
Got to practice more!
To the drawing board doing random sketches.

Day 134: Reson to be good
Typical of the theme is about good versus evil.
Great production, good effort dance choreography,
touching songs, nice stage design, but the story
was kinda shallow and thin. Not enough development
of characters. I like the first part where the premise shows
how the main character suffers from the madness
of the world. It made me felt related.
Like how crazy and hard the world is. Full of deaths,
greed, betrayal, etc, etc. The main character broke
down, gives up and succumbs. The little angel
tells the audience NO, that it'll be like selling your soul
to Satan.
I was awaiting to see how the story unfolds.
How are they gonna convince the non-Christians, the
power of God, over-flipping the man's decision.
I remember there are times too, I feel like giving up.
I needed to be convince again. I needed a good
reason why shouldn't I live like most of my peers
do? We only live once rite? I simply need a good
reason to stay good.
I asked a friend once, that very question.
He bluntly told me, that you don't need a good
reason to be good, you simply are.
So does that mean in nature, I'm not good?
And I'm just fighting, to be?
The second part of the musical was disappointing.
It just ends with everyone singing and dancing of
how that man needs God and everything will be fine
immediately.
Just like that.
Sometimes I find the church do that.
Bluntly give reason to non-Christian to be Christians;
just be good and good will come.
I believe in Him, don't get me wrong.
I believe in good. And I want to be good.
It's just that, sometimes I can't deny that
there are part of me that wants the easy way
out.
I can't just 'be', like most Christians are.
I believe there are alot of people who are like me too,
especially non-Christians, who needs more reasoning,
a more convincing story.
That is why I find stories so powerful.
And it is so important to tell them right.
That is also what I hope of my book;
I See So Many Butterflies.
(A friend made fun of the title the other day,
that how young people these days famously use that term
to indicate synchronicity. Heh. That was flattering.)
I find working on the book interesting because
I myself doesn't know how the ending will be.
Will it end in Good or Bad? It's like God and Satan
are constantly manipulating and influencing me
with the progression of the story.
What end will it come to Man?
I need more solid reasons for it to end Good.
I want it to end Good. But I don't want it to be like
some stories that just abruptly end in Good for the
sake of ending it in Good. I want my audience to
feel satisfied and reasoned of the ending,
no matter what the outcome is.
Btw, will be doing some field research tomorrow.
Keep you posted.

Day 123: Painting is stressful!
Did some comic illustrations today
as practice.
Then caught a local movie with mom.
Terrible. Bad script. Bad acting.
Cinematography was shit!
Fell asleep half way.
Then went to studio to paint.
Very frustrating.
Was finishing the paintings quite neatly.
And that was the problem. I was rushing
to finish it, and it does look finish.
Too finish.
Frustrated.
Not gonna elaborate anymore.

Taking it really slow to kickstart painting today. It's always like that whenever u had a previous bad paint day.

Day 122: Painting
It's been awhile since my fingers
are stained with paint.
Painting is frustrating.
You layered after layer.
Getting it, then losing it.
Finalizing it, then redoing it.
The pain and frustration to
wait for certain part to dry,
while you work on another
part, then accidentally staining
another.
The process is constantly happening
and always fluctuating.
I love and hate painting.
Hoping to finish the paintings
before I leave the country.
Hell, I paid for the studio anyway.
Today I also went to stocked up
some paper for my new mini comic.
As an artist, we hand-picked every
detail of our work.
Had great meals today. Simple
but satisfying.
Thank God, I'm still blessed to eat.
Paid credit card bills.
Thank God, I'm still able to.
Juggling every bits of my life now.
I miss you special friend!
(Though I'm still pissed been deleted!
Am still waiting for your repent actions :P)

Day 121: Work+Play
Bought awesome rojak for lunch.
Then watch an episode of How I met Your Mother.
Love the season finale love song by Haunt.
Went to the studio at evening.
Painted for awhile. Then we went
for badminton. Sweat it all out.
The night before we had too much
to drink.
Really living the artist life to the max.
After having supper, we continued
back in the studio to paint.
The studio for the first time,
at least to me, was very alive.
Music was playing. Upstairs,
artist friend was discussing with
a friend of a comic book that
they're working on.
Another fellow studio mate was
making board canvases.
Drove home feeling really thankful.
But sadly, it'll be over soon.

Day 120: Hard
Another editing job.
Then went to the studio to paint.
Yep, haven't been painting for a long time.
Worked on 2!
Then caught a movie with studio mates.
Came back, had some wine. We gave equally
effort opening the wine because we didn't
had a wine opener.
It was memorable.
Then we talked about 'getting out'.
From our comfort zone, and getting
out from our country,
That our country's art industry is not
big enough to feed us.
Thoughts of closing down the studio,
since one member has already pulled
out, which is a big burden to us.
Another person's rent to split between
3 of us. Especially when I'm heading
out to Jakarta next year.
Sigh-well.
Anyway, got into a heated and sensitive
conversation for awhile 'bout a good
friend who had passed away.
Conclusion, if you want to get out,
get out. No excuses, or no holding back.
Not even when people discourage you to.
And don't ever discourage anyone who does.
Cause getting out, might be the best thing for them.
Or not, but it doesn't matter. As long we have tried.
Ended back home, semi-tipsy at 7am.
Good night friends... (or morning, wish I'm in London now..)

Day 119: Football
We casted an award winning actor.
It was great pleasure meeting up with him.
He was perfect for the role.
But sadly his schedule doesn't fit
our shoot dates.
So now, we're just letting it sink in.
Whether should we work our schedule
around his. He is really good and
will definitely help the project alot.
Was feeling a little frustrated,
so I slept at the studio.
Till dinner, then watch 2 football
matches with my studio mates.
I don't really like football.
But watching with them
and all the bitch talking felt
kinda fun and entertaining.
Anyway, was in the newspaper
today. It's old news, so I felt
kinda shy.
