i bought this bottle of wine back when i started 30dayartist August 2005.
Back then i hadn't achieve
anything in my life. I bought this bottle on August 2005
when i started the 30dayartist
project and told myself that
one day i will open it in
celebration of my art career.
4 years later, the wine has
aged very well and in celebration
of wrapping up my 2009 run
and finishing the tiring 6 episode shoot,
I opened this bottle with the production team. I dedicate this bottle to everyone
who had contributed and
helped of what and where i
am today.
Thanks guys!

Day 30: YEAH!
YEAH! YEAH! YEAH! YEAH! YEAH! YEAH!
YEAH! YEAH! YEAH! YEAH! YEAH! YEAH!
YEAH! YEAH! YEAH! YEAH! YEAH! YEAH!
YEAH! YEAH! YEAH! YEAH! YEAH! YEAH!
YEAH! YEAH! YEAH! YEAH! YEAH! YEAH!
I'm done.
Day 30. Another month. Another year.
phew...
breath. i feel the air.
wohoooo---
yep..
accomplished 63 pages!
wohoo! 30 days 63 pages!
will be continuing working on
them at www.30dayartist.com/chinyew
do drop by.
and up next,
I-Ming, co-creator of 30dayartist.
it's been great, tiring, crazy, fun,
fast, slow month for me.
Resume life.
resume.
(not quite)
after the wrap of the 9 days shoot,
it's to the editing room.
2 weeks editing non-stop.
crazy.
i wonder why so many people want
to be director.
sigh.
you must be really mad
or you really love to tell stories.
phew...
ahh...
yeah.
tons of unwatch AVIS, dvds, tv series
awaits me.
ahh.. Entourage.... Lost, Wire, Deadwood,
Californication, etc..
yeah! cartoons!
breath..
i'll probably take a couple of days
break from I See So Many Butterflies.
It's been dark for me.
very crazy. shooting happy-sunshine children
show at day, and illustrating dark-butterflies
at night.
doin too much of both at a con-current time
might affect me into having split personalities.
resume life.
i'm gonna chill. catch a movie.
and reflect this month.
till then,
i hope everyone of you well
and that you have enjoyed
my this year's run.
till next year.
Godspeed.

It's a wrap!
(the view from my bed.)
Didn't realized how drain out
my body was till i shouted
the word 'WRAP!'. Damn. Feel like shutting down now
as i lay on my bed after a nice
cold shower.
But i can't. It's not a wrap yet
for my 30dayartist run.
I've still got 6 more pages to
illustrate before i end part 1
of volume 2.
Sigh.

Day 29: And the crowd goes....
Ahhh.... almost there. almost there.
the moment feels like rising up from
deep ocean for air.
you can see the light.
you can't breath.
almost there.
almost there.
*gasp...
*pant *pant* pant*
think i almost had a heart attack
today during shoot.
maybe i spent too long in the sun.
arms in red color now.
heh.
face look like zombie.
blueish green surrounding
below my eyes.
skin losing color, turning
green white.
need sleep.
now.
hope you guys like the coming
pages.
part 1 of volume 2 is almost done.
i think...
anyhow..
till tomorrow.
day 30!
ARgghhh-yeah!
Day 8 of shoot at Racing track.

Day 28: It leads to the end.
My shoot is almost over.
My run at 30dayartist is also almost over.
I find it very strange every time during
my run, the works that I produced comes
naturally in a 3-acts structure.
Volume 1 of I See So Many Butterflies,
if you hold the book and notice the spine,
the full-bleed black pages almost look like
their bookmarking where the 3-acts is,
separating the book into 3 sections,
where each thickness are the standardize
length of any 3-acts story.
strange.
i sometimes think it is the subconscious mind
of i reading and experiencing so many stories
in my life, that the structure has
already naturally embedded in my brain.
or sometimes, i prefer to believe that it
is the 'Force' that is taking me over.
God.
I truly believe that He is the master
of all masters of stories.
'cause I don't pre-plan at all the story of
I See So Many Butterflies.

Day 27: Slow-Mo
My God.
Days are going so slow for the last few days.
I'm only managed to deliver thumbs today.
Usually for the last few days of 30dayartist,
time passes by really fast.
But not this time.
The struggle of balancing 2 jobs is like
having 48 hours in a day.
like i'm experiencing everything in double-speed.
slow-mo.
very painful.
i start the day on shoot.
a day of shooting might take up to 9 hours.
come back, shower, eat, nap, then draw.
i usually spend at least 6 hours on the
drawing table for this 30dayartist run,
but due to lack of time, i only spend
bout 3 hours top a day.
the 6 hours i spend on 30dayartist is
not merely on drawing.
most of the time is 'waiting'.
i can't draw directly.
even with thumbnails ready,
i need the time to wait for
myself to draw.
does it sound weird to you?
i dunno, for me drawing is not like
a job. is like an 'anticipation'.
i need the moment to feel right.
once the pencils are done,
i wait again for the inking 'moment'.
once inking is completed, there's
no waiting time for post, i jump
straight to the scanner and computer.
it feels like a very long process.
so, you see, it's not as simple as
just sit, draw, scan, publish.
now, 1 hour before call-time,
i'm gonna go 'wait' for the moment.

mr bay, present kids still prefers the classic Optimus Prime.
Day 26: Breathing room
Woke up and had to prepare materials for an award nomination. I'm one of the 10 in Malaysia nominated for the Martell Rising Personalities Awards 2009. I couldn't believe it when i got the news yesterday. Previous nominees was quite known in their field. i'm feeling quite pressure cause i honestly feel that i really hadn't done alot yet. The perfect timing would be after i successfully make my first feature film. (and i really meant 'film' not video.) I'm so grateful for the last award that helped me won this phone, which has enable me the flexibility post freely. I would have not bought a 3g phone willingly and would still be satisfy with my ancient old phone. So, i'm grateful for everything. Now as i'm typing this with my phone, i realized that i've only got another 3 hours to sleep before tomorrow's call time and with this i thank you for giving me the gap. The breathing space of not having the time to work on any pages today. I sincerely thank you. Breath. Breath. Breath. -chinyew

day 5 of shoot.
Day 25: Inspiring People
Do you feel inspired sometimes?
A person's action that motivates your own?
I can't think of one now.
Mostly for me, begins with envious feeling.
Feeling that other people can, and why I can't.
And I'll go do.
That's my inspiration of striving.
Do I inspire people?
I guess as a director, you have to.
Do I?
I dunno. I just like to get things done.
No time to think.
Got only 4 hours left to sleep before call
time for tomorrow's shoot.
Sleep.
-chinyew
ahh... Another episode finish and 2 more to go!
